THIS WEEK and WEEKEND
We WILL have practice Friday from 3:00-4:00 before the high schoolers go to Knoxville, and the night before the MIddle School meet at Baylor.
MIDDLE SCHOOL SWIMMERS: Be at the Baylor pool Saturday morning by 8:30 for a 9:00 warm-up and 10:15 start (later warm-up time is reserved for teams from out of town). Coach Ashley Howe will be on deck for the middle school meet. Swimmers who make the top 16 in individual events will be expected to return for finals, at 4:45 warm-ups and 5:30 start.
HEAT SHEETS for the middle school meet will NOT be for sale, but you can print it at home from the website www.baylorswimming.org, or just access it on your phone at the meet.
Hunter Middle School has a diver competing! The diving events will begin 45 minutes after the preliminary session is completed.
HIGH SCHOOL SWIMMERS: Warm-up time for Saturday morning will be communicated via RAINED OUT. If you are going up Friday evening, please text Mrs. Childress at 423-991-0764 with your name and the number of people who will meet for dinner around 7:00-7:30 (optional and to be determined).
Our two high school teams are required to provide volunteers for this meet. Ooltewah needs to provide TWO people to be timers on Lane 7 on the scoreboard end pool. THIS IS USUALLY THE GIRLS' POOL. East Hamilton needs to provide ONE person to be a "RUNNER," and that job involves being on the pool deck to collect slips from timers and judges. Both positions would benefit from wearing rubber-soled (waterproof) shoes. AND WEAR TEAM COLORS IF YOU HAVE THEM! We still have a few t-shirts available! Text Mrs. Childress if you want to take one of the three jobs. It's actually okay if we mix it up--we could have OHS and EHHS on the lane timing. (We will provide stop watches.)
THERE IS a parking fee to park near the UT Aquatic Center. You may purchase $10.00 passes at the Metron lot, which is the site to park for the meet. You may also meter park on Volunteer Avenue without a pass. If you choose not to park in the designated areas, you are parking at your own risk and could be towed. There is a shuttle from the Metron Center from the parking area to the facility. The purchased passes are NOT for the parking garages close to the pool.
For spectators at UT Aquatic Center, you cannot have coolers in the stands. There are aluminum bleachers in the spectator stands, so stadium chairs are appropriate. For the swimmers, they can have blankets, sleeping bags, coolers, and chairs on the pool deck.
