TikTok Challenge results
Another exciting swim meet and another amazing effort by everyone. Official results are not out yet however looking at Meet Mobile Ooltewah Men finished 5th out of 28. Amazing job.
I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your continued support as we go through my first season.
Important things to think about as we prepare for upcoming meets:
- Snacks Between Events: To ensure our athletes maintain their strength and energy, we will need to evaluate what snacks during breaks between events work best for each individual. Please remind your athlete to take advantage of these options!
Bananas
Contain potassium, which can help prevent cramping and sore muscles. You can pair a banana with nut-free or peanut butter.
Raisins
A quick burst of energy can be provided by half a mini box of raisins.
Pretzels
A sodium and energy boost can be provided by 15–20 crunchy pretzels. You can dip them in peanut butter or pimento cheese.
Apple sauce (one of my personal favorites)
A portable and healthy snack that's easy to consume.
Honey sticks
A quick boost of carbohydrates from natural sugars.
Energy waffles and gels
A popular choice for meets because they come in prepackaged portions and a variety of flavors.
Granola bars
A simple carb that can be eaten if you have less than an hour between events.
Dates
A simple sugar that provides a quick burst of energy.
You should avoid foods high in fiber or protein close to a race because your body takes longer to digest them.
Lesson learned for me is that some meets have VERY long breaks between events. If there is a long break between events, If you have a longer break between events, you can eat a larger meal, like a sandwich or wrap. Remember each athlete is different find what they like and what works for them. Remember a wrap with lots of fiber(vegetables) because of their properties can cause digestive issues. Gain it’s all about the individual.
